Father’s Day gift buying is not always easy. Socks, golf balls and restaurant vouchers all have their place, but for racing fans, there is another option that might just last a little longer than the day itself.
Shared racehorse ownership has grown hugely in recent years, giving more people the chance to experience the sport from a different perspective. Whilst owning a racehorse outright is still out of reach for many, syndicates and racing clubs have opened the door to a much wider audience, offering the chance to follow a horse, receive regular updates and enjoy the journey as part of a group and community.
With that in mind, the Shared Ownership Father’s Day Gift Guide brings together 13 racing clubs and syndicates with options ranging from £40 to over £1,500. There are Flat horses, Jump horses and even Point-to-Pointers included, with something to suit a range of budgets and levels of involvement.
For someone who loves racing, it offers something a little more personal than a traditional present. It might not be a gift to unwrap, but a horse to follow, a story to become part of and a chance to experience racing from the owners’ side of the sport.
Among the most accessible options in the guide is Racing Club’s Love Always, with shares available from £40. A sweet filly by Tasleet, she is described as having been straightforward to break in and as having taken to her early work well. For those looking for an entry-level way into the sport, she is a reminder that shared ownership does not have to begin with a huge financial commitment.
At a similar price point is The Good Racing Company’s Graham Lee Racing Club, which offers the chance to follow We’ve Got This on the track, whilst also supporting a meaningful cause away from it. It is one of the strongest charitable stories in the guide and shows how racing clubs can offer more than just a connection to a horse, bringing people together around a shared purpose as well as a shared racing journey.
RaceShare also features at £49 with Robusto, a previous winner trained by Eve Johnson-Houghton. Described as tough, sound and likeable, he offers an affordable route into following a proven Flat horse with experience already behind him. Old Gold Racing’s Running The Game, available from £55, is another previous winner. A handsome grey gelding in training with Gary and Josh Moore, he is described as a horse with plenty still to offer.
For Jump racing fans, the guide includes the Chris Honour Racing Club at £200. The club has two horses and describes itself as friendly, inclusive and welcoming to new members. That sense of community is one of the great strengths of shared ownership, especially for those who want to feel involved beyond simply watching from afar.
The G&T Racing Club brings a Point-to-Point angle to the guide, with Smurfette and Crackerjack Queen. Smurfette has won twice for the club and has been placed in nearly all her runs, making her a model of consistency. Crackerjack Queen is newer to the club and has already placed. For those with an interest in grassroots racing, pointing and the wider country racing scene, this offers a slightly different route into ownership.
There are also several mid-range and more involved options for those looking to give a slightly bigger gift. MDP Racing’s Star Of Emerald, available at £500, is a three-year-old gelding described as open to plenty of progress as he steps up in trip through the coming months, while BG Racing Syndicates offers a summer jumping option with Twist Of Fatecatch. Available at £580, he is a hurdler rated 107, leased until 31 October 2026, and is expected to be competitive if he remainsfit and well.
For those interested in following a young Flat horse, Pompey Ventures features an unnamed filly by Twilight Son out of Fellbeck, available at £595. In training with Ollie Sangster, she is described as a standout filly with an eye-catching physical profile and is progressing well at home. RB Racing Club’s Waistcoat, available at £685, offers another Flat option with a strong summer feel. Described as proven, improving and packed with untapped potential, he is being aimed at Ascot and Friday nights on the July Course at Newmarket- giving racing fans the chance to follow a horse at some of the sport’s most recognisable summer venues.
For those looking at a more involved ownership experience, the guide also includes options such as Devon Racing Club’s Square De Roule and The Legacy Group Racing Club’s Belardo filly. Square De Roule, available at £1,000, is described as a genuine Jump horse who always gives his best, having been in the prize money 11 times from 13 runs for the club, including two wins. The Legacy Group Racing Club’s filly, available at £1,330, is in training with Dylan Cunha at Phantom House Stables in Newmarket and offers another young Flat horse to follow.
Completing the guide is Vesper Solis Racing’s Hellcat, with various pricing options available. A chestnut filly by Mayson out of the Kodiac mare Vixen, she has a sharp, speed-influenced pedigree with precocity and toughness running through her sire line. For those interested in bloodstock and Flat racing, she offers another interesting story to follow.
Whilst each club and syndicate will offer a slightly different experience, the principle behind shared ownership remains the same. It gives more people the chance to feel involved in the sport, to follow the ups and downs of a horse’s career, and to enjoy racing as part of a community.
Gift certificates may also be available through the clubs themselves, making the options easy to present as a Father’s Day gift. Shares and memberships are subject to availability, and anyone interested should check directly with each provider for the latest information, terms and package details.
