Success is Endless for Prolific Bonus Winner

A horse who cost his syndicate just £1 has scooped a share of a £30,000 bonus after winning three consecutive races at Southwell in November.

Young Endless topped the league table with Jim Goldie’s Spun To Gold in Arena Racing Company’s monthly £1 Million Bonus competition which rewards the most successful performers on their four All-Weather tracks.

The Kevin Frost-trained six-year-old secured the £15,000 pay-out for his owners Endless Possibilities by completing his 23-day hat-trick in a two-mile handicap on Wednesday, 26th November.

Steve Capper, who heads up the syndicate, said: “What he’s achieved is unbelievable. When I bought him for just £1 to set up this syndicate two years ago I never imagined he would go on to win seven races. I’d been involved in his early runs for Charlie Fellowes but he showed no worthwhile form so I set up the Endless Possibilities syndicate and sent him to Sam Thomas with a plan to go hurdling.

“Sam won with him on the All-Weather at Southwell in March last year but he didn’t take to jumping and moved on to Laura Morgan in the Midlands. She did well with him, winning twice more at Southwell. However, since he’s been with Kevin, who trains near Southwell, he’s gone from strength to strength with wins at Wolverhampton and his latest three at his local track,” explains Steve.

Apprentice Alec Voikhansky was on board when the Champs Elysees gelding won a two-mile handicap at the Nottinghamshire course and repeated the feat over a mile and three-quarters just over two weeks later.

But it was Lewis Kent who coolly steered him to his hat-trick in an amateur riders’ race off a career-high rating of 63 – a success that Frost hopes he can build on later this winter. “I was worried that turning him out again so quickly might be a race too many but he produced his best performance so far,” said the Averham Park handler. “I’ve always said he will tell us when he’s ready for a break but he’s thriving.

“It’s been great fun for everyone involved in the syndicate who have not only won three lots of prize money but now a share of the monthly bonus, which is a fantastic initiative for smaller owners like ours.”

Young Endless, who was bred by Steve’s friend Anthony Morris, is a full brother to Endless Acres who was second to Thomas Hobson in the Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2017.

Now Steve, a retired foundry worker, is hoping Young Endless can maintain his form long enough to be a contender for the £100,000 All-Weather Horse of the Year title come Good Friday. “We’re all having a lot of fun with him and much of the credit goes to Kevin, who has done such a good job with the horse. His facilities are fantastic and he makes ownership affordable and enjoyable for everyone involved.”
